Getting to the Good Stuff
Hello out there! Despite the lack of visible stuff to share, we’ve been making good progress over here at the ClockTower. Over the last month, we’ve made progress on NeoNagoya, getting a bit closer to realizing the cityscape I’ve been working on for something like 5 years now. We’ve also been getting in more games, which has given us some good insights into the most recent rounds of revisions and balance tweaks. And finally, we’re getting to the point where the website is going to be getting a webstore!
With the help of a local friend and artist, we’ve got two ‘zines almost ready to begin selling. The idea currently is for the series of zines (short, self publish pamphlets) to tell a short story, give a skirmish rules splash, and maybe a hobby related bit as well. Currently, the first two mini-issues are ready to begin printing for sale as needed. The initial story is (in my opinion at least) a great introduction to the world of S.E.E.R. and the Fylaxian Galaxy, as it tells the story of how the lead character of the books’ fiction, Captain Ellsworth, finds out there’s life, and conflict, beyond the skies of the planet she’s called home.
I’ve also got a bit of work done in the 3d modeling space. I have a set of billboards I wanted to make, and I decided to make them in TinkerCAD and print them instead of building them by hand. This was done mostly so I could work on other things while I was getting them ran, but also so I could print multiples that would be more or less identical. I think this is a place where 3d printing really comes into its own. Sure, it’s useful for printing other people’s creations. But as I do my own 3d modeling and digital kitbashing, I’m discovering that being able to do the digital work once, and then run as many copies of that print as I want to repeat small, intricate or repetitive work as frequently as I like is where it’s really going to come into its own in my hobby work flow. I’ve done this once before on window detailing, but I think this part is much more ambitious.
So, soon, I’ll be taking these 3d models and uploading them as file bundles for sale on a webstore. Thus far, they’re all related to near future and modern cityscapes, but I think over time I’ll add more.
