The Grind

I feel like this is almost repetitive at this point. We’re getting into a groove working on the game, then life happens, then we have a hiatus while things settle down, then we get back to work. Wash, rinse, repeat. But, on the other hand, progress is progress and I’d rather release something I’m proud of than do it half-assed and regret not giving every bit of S.E.E.R. the room it deserves.

That in mind, we’ve continued playtesting and hammering out kinks we’ve found in the power balance of the Shaping system. We’re still fine-tuning melee combat to be a bit more balanced with ranged. There’s also been work going into the books. Turns out, I’m awful at book layout so far. Trying to get the margins right for binding, get the page layouts looking slick and having the bleed right. This is one of those cases of not knowing what you don’t know until you get shown you don’t know it. On the upside, the playtesting has been productive, and we’re getting a long way in tuning our systems for balance. We’ve also made progress on NeoNagoya for playtesting and photography for the books. I still need to get some more models painted and terrain built, but it’s a slow go.

I think the next board(s) I build and the next batch of stuff for demos that I put together will be 15mm scale. It’ll make transport and storage a helluva lot easier and it’ll make the next step of the game plan easier in the long run. That being scaling the game system to 15mm and being able to run it as a full size army size game without. It’s essentially half-scale, so the conversions shouldn’t be too difficult. Maybe just a little bit of finetuning as we get dug into it. We’ll see, though. That’s a bridge for another day.

Remember folks, be groovy to yourselves and the folks around you.
