Upcoming Events and WiPs
This month has been a productive one! There’s been business side progress that’s exciting, work in the hobby space that’s going well, and we’re making progress on the books as well! The business stuff is mostly focused on prepping us for publishing. Meanwhile the hobby work has been trucking along on some of the Brutal Cities terrain we’ve had on the desk for a while. The biggest chunk of the work has gone towards getting the book layouts honed in and ready for printing test copies for home publishing, though.
On the business side, I’ve regained complete access to the company’s WargameVault.com account, which is a big step towards getting things in good working order for publishing with a Print on Demand format, as well as being able to sell PDFs of the game when it’s ready. That also means I’m a couple steps closer to opening a web store. I decided being able to self publish and sell prototypes of what we’re using for playtesting could be pretty cool. I have a few other ideas for items to sell, but I’m afraid I just don’t have the time to pursue all of them.
We’ve also got a lot of progress made on the current terrain WiP we’ve prioritized for completion. It’s one of our Brutal Cities Trapper Lodge building combos. It’s a stacked pair of the blocks that are going to be retail spaces. One for a general store, the other for a perfumier, named for and using art by a local creator, Treading Water Perfume (with their approval). I’ve designed and printed a couple of advertisement sign boards for the perfumier using some of the packaging they’ve previous used on items Cal and I have bought. NeoNagoya as a read-to-go table is probably at about 80% completed. There’s still a lot of street scatter pieces to make, as well as a couple more building tiles, but progress is progress.
While all of that’s been going on, I’ve also been working on the book layout. The handful of times I’ve printed it to put in binders and use for playtesting, the hole-punch, regardless of the style, inevitably eats some of the text. So I’ve been tinkering with page layouts and margins to make sure that the next round are ready for printing and binding. It’s been an interesting challenge. Once I get some test pieces knocked out, I’ll put up some sample pages. I’m pretty excited about the progress.
Lastly, if you happen to come out to the Ordo Fanaticus club con next weekend, look for me at the Turnip28 event on Sunday. I wanted to get in and flex some kitbashing muscles and try my hand at smashing some other Toffs. I’ve done it once, I can do it again! Also, I’ll be at CRITcon here in PDX for UselessWizard’s
Looking forward to things to come!
